Bob and Anne Lee to light Barrington's holiday tree

Longtime Barrington residents Bob and Anne Lee will receive the honor of lighting the village's holiday tree this year.

Village board members this week approved a resolution recognizing the Lees and honoring them for their volunteer service to the Barrington area. With those kudos came the announcement the Lees will light up the village as part of the Home for the Holidays festivities Saturday, Dec. 2.

Barrington's annual tree lighting ceremony is set for 5 p.m. Home for the Holidays begins at 10 a.m. in downtown Barrington's shopping district and will include free carriage rides, visits with Santa, complimentary milk and cookies, a petting zoo, ice sculptures and more.

Bob Lee has been known for taking and donating photographs of his fellow givers and volunteers at countless Barrington-area charitable events for about the past 18 years. He's been recognized with volunteer awards from the American Cancer Society, the National Hospice Foundation and the Les Turner ALS Foundation, which also gave him the Citizen of the Year Award.

He's said his wife is the reason he does what he does for the Barrington community. Bob Lee and several other Barrington-area volunteers are in the Houston area helping to repair houses of less-fortunate residents that were damaged by Hurricane Harvey.
