Lake Zurich High to honor students who master second language

Lake Zurich High School announced this week that beginning with the current school year, it will award the State of Illinois Seal of Biliteracy to students who have studied and attained proficiency in two languages by graduation.

Students must demonstrate a high level of proficiency in English as well as reading, writing, listening and speaking in another language.

The seal is affixed to the diploma and designated on the student's transcript. It encourages students to pursue biliteracy, honors the skills students attain, and is evidence of skills that are attractive to future employers and college admissions offices.

Lake Zurich High School currently offers French, German, and Spanish as world language courses.
