Aurora East Education Foundation awards $43,000 in mini grants

The Aurora East Educational Foundation has awarded $43,000 in grants to District 131 staff who applied for funding through the AEEF Educational Grants Program.

The Educational Grants Program allows innovative ideas to be tested and the education of our youth to be enriched through these ideas. Past activities have been very successful and have made the educational experience of our students even more rewarding.

"The foundation is humbled by the overwhelming response from the teachers and staff to this year's request for mini-grants," said Bill Deligiannis, chairman for the foundation. "This year, 49 applications were received and slightly over $43,000 was distributed."

Mini grants were awarded to a wide variety of proposed projects, including STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics)-based lessons and experiences, drama and music endeavors, as well as life skills lessons.

Grants were awarded to teachers at all grade levels in the district, from prekindergarten through high school.
