Unions usually don't lose; taxpayers do
The letter from Judy Janes, "Community loses in D15 strike," is misguided. Unions put forward a list of demands and basically they win 85 percent of what they demand.
To me that's not quite a fair negotiation. The only winners are the union and its members and naturally the big losers are always the taxpayers.
Judy is right when she says the community loses - but it's the people in the community and not the union. Workers are the big winners every time.
