Ninth annual swell gallery to host holiday market

Swell gallery, 123½ W. Main St. in West Dundee, is hosting its ninth annual Holiday Arts, Crafts and Vintage Market. It begins on Black Friday, Nov. 24 and ends the weekend before Christmas, Sunday, Dec. 17.

Come in to shop small, local and handmade, to learn a new skill or craft some handmade gifts, to meet local artists as part of Dickens in Dundee Dec. 1-2, or all of the above.

An artists reception will be held on Nov. 24, followed by Small Business Saturday on Nov. 25.

For the market, Cindy Kennedy Photography made three new canvas prints of the West Dundee Riverwalk in vibrant sunset colors. Liz Wegbreit of Blue Star Farm Photography found and reworked some vintage frames at Midwest Retro for her canvas prints. Jenni T from West Dundee brought lots of favorites and some new creations, including knitted (working) bell ornaments and pint-size coozies. Suzanne Hallett has been busy making one-of-a-kind collage fairy ornaments.

Other artists include: Miki Noland/Designs by Miki with character hats; Sally Tibbetts with whimsical cat-themed mini paintings; Danuta Loan's handmade pottery; Earrings By A featuring earrings made of Legos; Argent Moon Jewelry; Erin Cramer's paper sculptures of critters; and Amanda Dell'Aringa's small watercolor paintings and a few oils.

Register for the following classes: Ania Perrone on design on Dec. 9 or Do-It-Yourself Christmas Ornaments for adults on Dec. 17.

There will be two drop-in programs: Learn to Fold a Paper Crane on Dec. 10 or Do-It-Yourself Christmas Ornaments for kids on Dec. 17.

On Dec. 2, Sleepy Hollow author Raymond Bellock will sign his book "Amy Loved Weekends," a Christmas story set in the Great Depression.
