Rock on Palatine to highlight local talent
Local singers will showcase their vocal chops as they compete in the upcoming third annual Rock on Palatine Singing Contest from 2-5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 12, on the Main Stage at Durty Nellie's, 180 N. Smith St., in downtown Palatine.
Singers will perform a cappella, with live accompaniment from a guitar or keyboard or with prerecorded background music, as they compete for cash, prizes and bragging rights in the competition's different age categories.
"Each year brings new and returning contestants who continue to thrill the judges and audience with their musical talents," said Jan Wood of JP Wood Martial Arts American, who co-hosts the event with Melanie Santostefano of Vicarious Productions.
"We thank all of our contestants for making Rock on Palatine an exciting event that grows each year."
The singing competition will feature contestants ages 6 and older who live in the Northwest suburbs. Three judges will determine first-, second- and third-place finishers in Junior, Teen and Adult categories.
Entry into the event is free for spectators, who are invited to cheer the singers on while enjoying Rock on Palatine food and drink specials offered by Durty Nellie's.
The presenting sponsors for Rock on Palatine are School of Rock and Pan American Bank and Trust. The silver sponsor is Jet X Aerospace, and bronze sponsors are Sue Gould/Berkshire Hathaway Starck Real Estate, All Events Entertainment and GoHereGoThere. Events.
