Behind shutout defense and 4 Victor Karam field goals, No. 17 seed Benet topped No. 1 seed Hononegah 26-0 in Class 7A. The Redwings advanced to the state quarterfinals a second straight season for the first time in program history.

Tireless

Jack Jessen ran the ball 46 times for 213 yards and 3 touchdowns to lead No. 4 Willowbrook to a 29-10 Class 6A win over No. 5 DeKalb. The Warriors face visit defending 6A champion Prairie Ridge in the quarterfinals.

Streak snapped

Falling 24-20 to No. 9 seed Oswego in Class 8A, it's the first time since 2011 Glenbard West will not be playing in the state quarterfinals. The Hilltoppers reached at least the semifinals every season from 2012-16.

Hello again

In Class 3A on Saturday, Wilmington defeated Farmington, which sets up a rematch of last year's quarterfinal game with IC Catholic in Elmhurst. In 2016 the Knights defeated visiting Wilmington 48-14 in the third round.
