Man fatally shot outside Chicago Starbucks was armed

CHICAGO (AP) - Chicago Police say a 28-year-old man killed in a shooting at a Starbucks in the city's Uptown neighborhood was carrying a handgun and drugs.

Department spokesman Anthony Guglielmi says detectives believe the man - identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner's office as Sauvignon Watkins of Chicago - was involved in an illegal drug deal outside the restaurant on Thursday night when a masked gunman opened fire. Watkins ran into the restaurant, where he collapsed and died.

Also shot was a man who police believe was involved in the drug deal and a 12-year-old boy who Guglielmi says was not involved with either of the men. The two remain hospitalized, with the boy listed in good condition and the man in serious condition.

Police say no arrests have been made.
