The political fallout if we fail Puerto Rico
Before the advent of television, during World War II, I would go to the theater on Saturday, at which time the newsreel "Eyes And Ears Of The World" would depict the events of the war. No fake news here. I can remember seeing the invasions in which the soldiers would erect pontoon bridges to facilitate the crossing of waters where bridges had been blown up.
Now my question is this. With all the military in Puerto Rico, why aren't they using their expertise to build this type of pontoon to get to people who are stranded or using rope guides to get across rivers? If there was an enemy in that area, I'm sure the Army would find a way to get to these American citizens.
How about helicopters to drop supplies? What is going on, or I should say not going on? Oh wait, these are American citizens, but they have no vote in Puerto Rico. How many of these citizens will relocate to the Upper 48 and register to vote? Three million angry voters can be a very decisive force in the next election.
