Hiding behind 'right to bear arms' saw

I am 81 years old and have been a Republican all of my life, that is until now when I see Roskam and Hultgren hiding behind the old saw, "the U.S. Constitution grants the right to bear arms."

They have both sold their souls to the NRA and the money that the NRA has contributed to each of their campaigns seems to have clouded their judgment.

Automatic rifles are for one purpose and one purpose only - killing people. If you need an automatic weapon to hunt you are a pretty damned poor shot.

I cannot believe following the slaughter in Las Vegas that these two men actually believe they are representing the beliefs of their constituents. They are both showing that their loyalties lie with the NRA who supports them rather than what their constituents want.

I am disappointed in both of them.

Anyone owning an automatic rifle or the "bump stocks" should be given 30 days to turn them into their local police departments or be given a free trip "Up the river."

Possession of either of these items should be an automatic jail sentence.

Enough is enough.
