Williams went too far in Trayvon Martin column

In his column published Oct. 4, Walter E. Williams identified several black men, including Trayvon Martin, as "criminals." A search of public records reveals that Trayvon Martin had no criminal record.

In his comments, Mr. Williams clearly crossed the line from voicing an opinion.

Trayvon Martin's "crime," which cost him his life, appears to have been choosing to walk through a gated community and respond to an armed vigilante. Unfortunately, his side of the story will never be heard.

I expect the Daily Herald's Opinion page to offer substantiated commentary. There are many good conservative writers who back up their arguments with valid facts, not stereotypes and lies.
