Montana safety Strong gets 2-game suspension after arrest

MISSOULA, Mont. (AP) - Montana senior safety Justin Strong has been suspended for two games after a weekend arrest for assault in Pullman, Washington.

No charges have been filed against Strong who said he hit Washington State hammer thrower Wyatt Meyring early Saturday because Meyring hit him first. The case is still being investigated and witnesses gave varying accounts of the confrontation.

Meyring suffered a fractured skull and a hematoma. The Spokesman-Review reports he was released from a hospital in Spokane, Washington, on Tuesday.

Strong had been in Pullman to watch his younger brother, defensive back Marcus Strong, and the Washington State Cougars play against Colorado on Saturday night. He was released from jail after a court appearance Monday.

Montana's student-athlete code of conduct calls for an athlete to be suspended indefinitely if felony charges are filed.
