Krysten Ritter to share new suspense novel

Many authors drop by Anderson's Bookshop to share their works, but the visitor on Friday, Nov. 10, will be a Marvel superheroine.

Krysten Ritter played Jessica Jones in the popular and award-winning Netflix show Marvel's "Jessica Jones" and in "The Defenders." Now the actress and international model will share her new book, "Bonfire," releasing in early November.

Fans can meet her at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 10, at Anderson's Bookshop, 123 W. Jefferson Ave., Naperville. Tickets are $29 and available exclusively at KrystenRitterAndersons.brownpapertickets.com. This is a signing line-only event and will not include a speaking presentation or reading.

Ritter's psychological suspense novel is about a woman forced to confront her past in the wake of small-town corruption. In the book, it has been 10 years since Abby Williams left home and scrubbed away all visible evidence of her small town roots.

Now working as an environmental lawyer in Chicago, she has a thriving career, a modern apartment, and her pick of meaningless dates.

But when a new case takes her back home to Barrens, Indiana, the life Abby painstakingly created begins to crack. Tasked with investigating Optimal Plastics, the town's most high-profile company and economic heart, Abby begins to find strange connections to Barrens' biggest scandal from more than a decade ago involving the popular Kaycee Mitchell and her closest friends - just before Kaycee disappeared for good.

Abby knows the key to solving any case lies in the unanswered questions. But as she tries to find out what happened to Kaycee, memories resurface and she begins to doubt her own observations.

Then she unearths a disturbing secret that will threaten the reputations, and lives, of the community and risk exposing a darkness that may consume her.

With twists and slow-burning suspense, "Bonfire" is a dark exploration of what happens when your past and present collide.

In addition to "Jessica Jones," Ritter is well known for her starring role in the cult favorite "Don't Trust the B- in Apartment 23," as well as her pivotal role on AMC's "Breaking Bad."

Ritter's film work includes "Big Eyes," "Listen Up Philip," "Life Happens," "Confessions of a Shopaholic" and "She's Out of My League." She is the founder of Silent Machine, a production company that aims to highlight complex female protagonists.
