Winchester Road closing in Libertyville for railroad repairs

The Canadian National Railway and the Lake County Division of Transportation will be close Winchester Road at the CN railroad crossing west of Route 45 beginning at 6 a.m. Oct. 25 for repairs.

The road is expected to reopen during the late afternoon of Tuesday, Oct. 31.

Officials say the closure is necessary to improve ride quality at the crossing. The project will include replacing the crossing surface, asphalt and concrete milling, repaving and striping.

Local traffic will be allowed from Midlothian Road to the crossing. The railroad crossing will be closed to all traffic. A detour will use Midlothian Road to Peterson Road to Route 45.

Winchester Road will be closed until Tuesday afternoon to create a better transition and improve ride quality over the railroad crossing. Gilbert R. Boucher II/gboucher@dailyherald.com
