Naperville cops hunting robbery suspect

Naperville police are asking the public for help in identifying a man who punched and tried to rob a letter carrier earlier this month on the 1000 block of North Main Street.

Police say the suspect punched the woman in the face, knocking her to the street, and then went through her pockets before fleeing without taking anything around 11:15 a.m. Oct. 4. The man left in a black Nissan Versa Note with Q as the first letter on the license plate.

The vehicle was driven by a black woman with shoulder-length hair beneath a stocking cap.

The suspect is described as a tall, thin black man in his 40s with black and gray hair. He was missing four front top teeth and wearing a black knit cap, hoodie, black jacket, weathered jeans with acid-wash spots, red high-top shoes and a light blue surgical mask around his neck that he used to try and cover his face.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (630) 420-6006. A reward of up to $1,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest and callers may remain anonymous.
