Naperville North to present radio plays

Remember the good old days of radio, when people had to use their imaginations and the mind was a stage? Those days are back - only better.

You can see as well as hear programs in two radio-style plays that will be presented this fall by Naperville North High School's North Performing Arts Center.

Both productions will be complete with live sound effects, live instrumental music, voice acting, and 1940s-style commercial breaks.

In keeping with tradition, the October production has a Halloween theme. Cast and crew will take on "Frankenstein" by Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley, adapted by Phillip Grecian, at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, at North, 899 N. Mill St., Naperville. The night will include raffles, costume contests and refreshments.

Tickets, $10, are available at nnhsarts.com and at the door. The production is a fundraiser and all proceeds will benefit the school's tech crew program.

The second radio-style production is the American classic "It's a Wonderful Life." With the help of an ensemble that brings a few dozen characters to the stage, the story of George Bailey unfolds as he considers his life one fateful Christmas Eve.

With help from a lovable angel, George has a change of heart and understands the true spirit of the holidays. Shows are at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Dec. 1 and 2, and 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 3.

Tickets are $5 for students and seniors and $10 for adults. They are available at nnhsarts.com and at the door.
