Public safety fair Saturday in North Chicago

North Chicago is hosting a public safety fair from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, at the city's fire department, 1850 Lewis Ave. The event will include 15 public safety information booths, interactive displays and activities, including an obstacle course and police academy training scenarios, CPR demonstrations, free smoke detectors and more. Lake County State's Attorney Michael Nerheim is the keynote speaker with citizen awards and swearing in and promotion ceremony for the fire department at noon. Call (847) 596-8610.
