New license for Arlington Heights liquor store

Arlington Heights has awarded a new liquor license to Arlington Food & Liquor, 401 S. Arlington Heights Road, after a change in ownership.

The new Class B and T licenses allow the sale and tastings of packaged liquor, though new owner Hetul Thakkar says he doesn't plan to offer tastings until establishing a good customer base.

The store had seven liquor violations between 1982 and 2013, during which there were five different owners. Thakkar, who left a job in international supply chain management, received his first liquor license in August for a store in North Aurora.
