Elgin Vineyard hosts revival prayer meetings

A special six-week emphasis on spiritual revival in Elgin is drawing praying Christians together on Wednesday mornings through Nov. 22.

Anyone may attend the meetings, which are held at Vineyard Church of Elgin, 220 Division St. It is sponsored by Light & Life Ministries.

Each session begins at 9:30 a.m. with a short DVD teaching, "Fresh Encounter," by Henry and Richard Blackaby. This series is designed to help believers return to a first-love relationship with God and become catalysts for revival.

From 11 a.m. to noon, the group will pray for revival and spiritual awakening in Elgin.

Reason to hope and reason to be ready for Christ's return are the hallmarks of "When He Appears," the Rev. Tom Severson's encouraging message this weekend at Elgin Vineyard.

In the book of I John, on which the sermon is based, the Apostle John counsels believers to live in such a way that they will experience only joy, and not shame, when Jesus returns as promised.

On Sunday, Oct. 22, Rev. Severson will preach at both the 9 and 11 a.m. services at the church. Everyone is welcome. Coffee service is offered downstairs at 8:30 and 10:30 a.m.

The public also is invited to a free "Trunk-or-Treat" from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, at Elgin Vineyard.

Kids are encouraged to come in costume, with games, candy, popcorn and hot chocolate for everyone.
