Track repairs close portion of Algonquin Road in Des Plaines

Algonquin Road is being closed at the Union Pacific Railroad crossing between Wolf and Mount Prospect roads in Des Plaines for crossing repairs, expected to be completed on Wednesday, weather permitting.

The Illinois Department of Transportation announced the closure Monday and advised motorists to follow detours, directing eastbound Algonquin Road traffic to go south on Mount Prospect Road, east on Oakton Street and north on Wolf Road to meet back with Algonquin Road.

Westbound Algonquin Road traffic will take the reverse route.
