No injuries in Naperville house fire

Nobody was injured in a basement fire that left a Naperville home uninhabitable Sunday night, officials said.

Authorities responded about 8:25 p.m. to the 100 block of West 48th Street after a resident reported heavy smoke in the basement of the single-story house, according to a news release from the Naperville Fire Department. Two adults and five children had safely evacuated the residence before officials arrived.

Fire crews extinguished the blaze within about five minutes and remained on the scene to ventilate, search for hidden fire and limit further damage, officials said. The residence was deemed uninhabitable because of smoke and fire damage.

The Naperville Fire Department Fire Investigation Team is investigating the cause of the blaze.
