Two charged in armed robbery of Deer Park AT&T Store
Two men are behind bars after police say they robbed a Deer Park store at gunpoint Wednesday morning, escaping with more than 100 cellphones and tablet computers before their capture a short time later in Schaumburg.
Antuan J. Blackman, 34, of the 2700 block of West Flournoy Street in Chicago, and Mark. D. Easley, 32, of the 500 block of Roberts Drive in Glenwood, each face charges of armed robbery stemming from the hold up of the AT&T Store at 21690 W. Long Grove Road. Blackman faces an additional charge of unlawful use of a weapon by a felon.
Lake County Sheriff's police say deputies were called to the store about 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. Witnesses told them two men, one armed with a gun, walked into the store wearing ski masks and ordered workers to place more than 100 electronic devices into bags.
The robbers then fled in a vehicle, which witnesses were able to describe to deputies.
A short time later, authorities said, Illinois State Police troopers and Cook County Sheriff's deputies found the vehicle in the area of Interstate 290 and Higgins Road in Schaumburg. The suspects fled from the vehicle, but were captured by police, authorities said.
Lake County Sheriff's detectives recovered all of the stolen items and the firearm believed used in the robbery, police said.
Both suspects remained in custody Thursday at the Lake County jail on $500,000 bail. They are scheduled to appear in court Nov. 6.
If convicted of armed robbery, each would face six to 30 years in prison.
