Spooky stories at Aurora Regional Fire Museum

The Aurora Regional Fire Museum will celebrate Halloween early this year with a program Friday night featuring the paranormal group Ghost Head Soup.

The group will discuss paranormal investigations and spooky Aurora stories from 8 to 11 p.m. at the museum, 53 N. Broadway.

The presentation will include:

• A hands-on look at paranormal investigation equipment.

• The history of the 1894 Old Central Station, where the museum is housed, as well as other spooky and supernatural Aurora stories.

• An investigation demonstration. Ghost Head Soup will lead participants through the museum and test the equipment.

Ghost Head Soup has given presentations, demonstration investigations, and true investigations throughout the region. Some of its notable cases include Bachelor's Grove Cemetery in Midlothian and the Swiss Tinker Cottage Museum and Gardens in Rockford.

This is the group's first time doing an event in a historic firehouse.

"An event like this is fun and celebrates the spirit of the season. It allows new audiences to come explore the museum and local Aurora history," said Museum Assistant Cayla Wagner, who designed the program.

"Getting the community to think outside of the box when it comes to local history can foster new relationships with the community and organizations," she said.

Tickets are $25 for members and $30 for nonmembers and may be purchased at http://tinyurl.com/FireMuseumParanormal.

The Aurora Regional Fire Museum preserves the history of the Aurora Fire Department and fire service through its collections and exhibits, while educating visitors about fire safety and prevention.
