Lombard honors Senior Man, Woman of Year

A pair of Lombard residents, Dennis McNicholas and Anna Weselak, recently received the village's Senior Man and Senior Woman of the Year awards during the 12th annual Senior Fair.

McNicholas has been an active business owner in the community for more than 25 years. He served as chamber of commerce president in 1990 and currently serves on the village's economic and community development committee.

He has been an active member of the Rotary Club of Lombard since 1987 and has spearheaded its International Service Committee, which provides fresh water wells in Haiti and shelter boxes for disasters around the world.

An active member of St. Pius X Church, he is the lead cantor in the choir. He is a published author and participates in local triathlons.

Weselak has lived in Lombard for more than 40 years and has been involved and volunteered her time with many local organizations.

She is a former president of the National PTA, was a member of the Lombard Chamber of Commerce, is a past president and is an active member of the Lombard Service League, as well as the Zonta Club. She also has volunteered to serve others at her church.

"This event recognizes all of Lombard's inspiring senior citizens," said Trustee Robyn Pike, chairwoman of the Community Relations Committee, which organized the event. "It's just one way that we can say thank you for their contributions to our community."

The Senior Fair was attended by roughly 200 seniors and offered flu shots, massages and information from more than 30 vendors.
