Man dies from injuries in crash with train

Authorities say a Barrington Hills man has died from injuries suffered when his vehicle was struck by a train near Route 14 and Kelsey Road in Lake Barrington the evening of Sept. 27.

The Cook County medical examiner's office on Monday announced the death of James A. Wagner, 78. Lake County sheriff's police said a Metra train was traveling northwest toward Fox River Grove when it struck a vehicle stopped on the tracks. Wagner was outside his vehicle when it was hit by the train. He then was stuck by the vehicle. Sheriff's Sgt. Christopher Covelli confirmed Wagner's death and said the matter remains under investigation.
