Green Drinks in Libertyville focuses on marker trees
Great Lakes trail marker trees is the topic of the next Green Drinks meeting, set for 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 10, at O'Toole's Libertyville, 412 North Milwaukee Ave.
Researcher Dennis Downes will discuss the ancient form of land and water navigational aids and marking system. Such trees were used by many, if not all, of the Native American tribes and later by fur traders and early pioneers. Downes has spent nearly 30 years in the field locating, documenting, and educating others about these historical icons.
Green Drinks Libertyville meets every second Tuesday of the month. The gatherings are for those who share an interest in the environment, sustainability and the community. Visit www.greendrinks.org for more information.
