Riley School Science Lab Receives Resources Thanks to McTeacher Fundraiser

Riley Elementary School of District 21 in Arlington Heights held their second annual McTeacher's Night at the Arlington Heights McDonald's on Dundee Road on Thursday, October 5th. A McTeacher's Night is organized to help raise money for local schools by having the teachers work at McDonald's and then giving a percentage of the night's sales to the local school.

On Thursday the restaurant was taken over by teachers excited to serve freshly prepared meals to students and their families to raise money for Riley Elementary School. The students and families were excited to see their teachers and principal behind the counter and throughout the restaurant.

Eighteen teachers worked from the elementary school including Principal Carrie McCulley. The McTeacher's jobs included greeting guests, cleaning the lobby, working the front counter, serving drinks, clearing tables, selling pies and even dressing up in a pie costume--all duties which were executed with great enthusiasm.

Riley teachers Melisa Kawadzki and Karen Kitthardt had a blast dancing around the restaurant in a pie costume. They were encouraging the families to make a donation and receive a delicious hot apple pie.

One highlight of the evening is when the school received a tip in the tip jar, Riley staff members Andi Redman and Karyn Zima used a megaphone to sing the McDonald's jingle. The tips kept pouring in all night long!

A special thank you goes to Riley Elementary School Principal Carrie McCulley who organized the event as well as everyone that worked and attended the event. Riley teachers worked hard and with excitement, while the families enjoyed a spectacular evening. The Riley staff plan to use the money raised to purchase resources for school Science Laboratory.

Riley School raised over $600.00 at the event thanks to all generous families who supported the event.
