Something must be done about gun laws

The tragedy in Las Vegas must be assessed through the eyes of the victims and their suffering families. Today all America mourns the dead and wishes comfort for their sorrowing families.

I keep crying; it's my beloved country that is being attacked from within and nobody knows the cause. I honor the brave first responders and all the nurses and doctors taking care of the victims, as well as brave citizens who helped rescue the wounded and the frightened escapers.

America abounds in kindness and bravery. But something must be done about the gun laws. Sandy Hook with the slaughter of tiny children and their teachers, brought a Bill to Congress, which failed due to influence from the Gun Lobby. Citizens quote the Constitution and the interpretation that guns are a right. To me the amendment can be interpreted in a different way from universal gun ownership. I believe the intention was to form a militia and arm them when problems arise. No standing army was foreseen, and we now have our army.

Heaven knows we are in a war now and people should be armed, but owning a gun must be stringently regulated with training and checking of owners. I applaud the police chief who said, "This is insanity." My opinion - assault rifles and armor-piercing bullets are only for the police and the military who are trained to use them. I mean police, not only the SWAT teams.

Every facet of our lives is violent - TV, films, driving, domestic abuse (the 3-year old killed by his Mother. I despair; I keep crying.
