Watson's 50-yard TD catch helps Presbyterian to 26-14 win

CLINTON, S.C. (AP) - Ben Cheek threw a 50-yard touchdown pass to DarQuez Watson and Malachi Brown returned a blocked punt for a score as Presbyterian defeated Saint Francis 26-14 on Saturday.

A leaping Saint Francis defender had Cheek's short pass to Watson graze his fingertips, Watson caught it, spun and sprinted to the end zone, his first TD of the season.

The Blue Hose (3-3) led 3-0 on a Brett Norton 35-yard field goal at the end of the first quarter and then tacked on two more five plays later as Saint Francis' next drive ended with a safety as a fourth-and-2 snap sailed over punter Andrew Zecca's head and rolled out of the end zone.

The defenses scored for each team in the second quarter - Brown's blocked punt for Presbyterian and a Louie Gartner fumble recovery and 49-yard return to put the Red Flash (3-2) on the board.

Bear Fennimore passed for 185 yards and a TD for Saint Francis.
