Metropolis taps into special village account for HVAC repairs

Metropolis Performing Arts Centre in downtown Arlington Heights will be able to use $49,000 from a restricted reserve account controlled by the village to cover costs related to HVAC repairs and new second-floor glass security doors.

The village set up the account to augment the theater's cash flow in case of extraordinary revenue declines or operational costs. The village contributed $51,000 to it this year, in addition to a $255,000 operating contribution and $163,000 for capital projects.

"We are so grateful for the funds we receive," Metropolis Executive Director Joe Keefe told village trustees, who approved the funding request 7-0 this week.

"We do our best to earn those dollars," said Keefe, adding food and beverage tax revenues from downtown restaurants have increased.
