Copeland Manor students show off their talents

Students nervously stood in front of a full gym as they performed their individual talents during the Copeland Manor Variety Show on Thursday night.

Twenty-nine students at the Libertyville elementary school displayed their various artistic skills that included tap dancing, gymnastics, piano playing, singing, juggling, martial arts, cup stacking and much more, said co-producers Patti Schroetter and Kelly Edelsberg.

"This is the first time that it is actually on the stage in the new gym. So it the first time that we have curtains and the first time we have lights and the first time it is on a grand scale. They are super excited about the big production of it," said Edelsberg, who teaches third grade, as she arranged students for the show. "They love to perform in front of their peers."

Fourth-grader Elizabeth Franz was the first of 21 acts, and she sang "Lost Boys" by Ruth B.

"I'm singing a song called 'Lost Boy' and I feel nervous. Mostly, I've been doing singing and this is my second time doing this," Elizabeth said as she waited to go on stage.
