Military Retiree Appreciation Day to be held at Naval Station Great Lakes Oct. 7, partnering with Lovell Federal Health Care Center

Naval Station Great Lakes will welcome military retirees and family members from all branches of the Armed Forces on Saturday, Oct. 7 for Military Retiree Appreciation Day (RAD). The event will take place from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. at the Epicenter, Bldg. 525, Naval Station Great Lakes.

The annual event is an opportunity for retirees, spouses and widows to receive updated information about retiree entitlement programs.

Capt. James Hawkins, Commanding Officer of Naval Station Great Lakes, will offer the welcoming address, followed by a keynote address by Capt. Bradford Smith, Commanding Officer and Deputy Director of Lovell Federal Health Care Center (FHCC). Andrew Tangen, Superintendent Veterans Assistance Commission of Lake County, will talk about resources available in the area. There will be a speaker from the Veterans Benefits Administration.

In addition, retirees will be able to get their flu shots, blood pressure screenings, and key Hepatitus C information about a new treatment available through the VA.

Also available at the RAD will be on-site FHCC enrollment, TRICARE information, Mental Health/Suicide Prevention, caregiver support, Veterans Service Organizations (VSO) representatives, Voluntary Services Choice/Non-VA Care, Women Veterans Services, Minority Veterans Services, Transition Management and Care, simulators, and FHCC Human Resources.
