St. Charles library to feature 'Gypsy Jazz and More' concert

Grammy-nominated Don Stille and acclaimed violinist Daniela Bisenius bring their classical training and virtuoso skills for a performance at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 8, at the St. Charles Public Library, 1 S. Sixth Ave.

"Gypsy Jazz and More" is an eclectic blend of high-energy gypsy jazz, gypsy swing, jazz interpretation of American songbook standards and established jazz standards.

Bisenius was born in Romania and began violin training at the age of five. Her talent was soon recognized and she was enrolled at the prestigious Music School George Enescu. At age 19, she won the position with the Staatsphilharmonie Ludwigshafen, making her the youngest person ever to win a position with that orchestra. She has performed as an orchestra member with many professional orchestras including Naples Philharmonic, Phoenix Symphony and Lyric Opera of Chicago. Bisenius has shared the stage with many great stars over the years such as Natalie Cole, Luther Vandross, Smokey Robinson, Kurt Elling, among many others.

Chicago-based full-time performing jazz pianist and accordionist "Don Stille proves himself a sophisticated improviser armed with a formidable piano technique and a vivid harmonic vocabulary," says Howard Reich Music critic for the Chicago Tribune.

Stille has performed throughout the country with a long list of nationally- and internationally-acclaimed jazz artists; has opened for Herbie Hancock and Stephane Grappelli; and performed with entertainers and pop artists of stage, screen, studio and TV fame.

Since 1981, the library has featured a wide variety of musical performances. The public is invited and the concerts are free to attend. For more information, visit www.stcharleslibrary.org or call (630) 584-0076.
