Same address, new look for District 50 website

Woodland District 50 has announced an updated look and function to the district website, www.dist50.net, and encourages the public to check it.

Woodland's technology team members have spent months developing content that reflects ideas from internal staff and external parent committees to come up with an attractive website that serves as the front door to welcome visitors to Woodland. The site is hosted by Blackboard, a company known for its work in innovative school communications.

"The Woodland District 50 website has more than 200 pages, which means a tremendous amount of work. We hope the website serves as a clear, consistent communications tool for the public to learn about the amazing accomplishments by our staff and students," Superintendent Dr. Joy A. Swoboda said.

Included in the features will be the following:

• Large revolving images of students participating in school classes and activities.

• Featured video created by students and staff.

• Easy-to-find buttons for functions often searched by parents. This includes the calendar, family access, meal program, staff directory and translation.

• Woodland's Facebook and Twitter feed with real time posts on the home page.

• Quick links to information regularly sought about students, staff and parents.

• School pages featuring photos/bios of each principal and school administrators.

• A superintendent's web page that includes a new monthly video message.

• Regular start and dismissal times listed on each school page along with phone numbers.

Coming soon will be the launch of a new phone application that includes a way to sync school calendars.

Questions regarding the website may be directed to Carolyn Waller Gordon, communications manager, at cwaller@dist50.net.
