Lake Park to present children's classic 'Phantom Tollbooth'

Lake Park High School presents the children's classic "The Phantom Tollbooth" in October. A public performance begins at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 12, in the Dice Auditorium at Lake Park High School, East Campus, 600 S. Medinah Road, Roselle

Written by Susan Nanus based on the book by Norton Juster, the story is about Milo, a bored kid invited into adventure in the Land of Wisdom. There, along with Tock, his dog and sidekick, he is forced to think about many new things, including rescuing the Princesses of Rhyme and Reason from the Land of Ignorance. The knowledge and skills Milo gains on his journey not only help him save the princesses, but make him realize his attitude toward learning will never be the same.

"The play has comedy, excitement and even some audience participation," director Kathy Weber said.

Leading characters include Milo, played by freshman Owen Bigler; Tock by freshman Abby Manning; Humbug by freshman Jillian McAuliffe; Princess Rhyme by sophomore Linda Presta; and Princess Reason by sophomore Anishi Patel.

Free tickets are available at the door. For information, contact lptheatreboxoffice@lphs.org or (630) 295-5313.
