Women's Club of Inverness Celebrates The Beauty of Grace

Women's Club of Inverness President Eileen Kohne kicked off the beginning of a new year announcing the theme, "The Beauty of Grace". Women's Club of Inverness, a philanthropic organization dedicated to serving the needs of women, children, families and seniors in the communities surrounding Inverness, held its first general meeting on Thursday, Sept. 14, at Inverness Golf Club.

Highlights of the meeting included words of appreciation from 2016 Education Scholarship recipient Leslie Madrid. After hearing Madrid speak at a previous event, an anonymous donor provided Madrid with a $5,000 scholarship through Harper College. The gift was made in memory of Raisa Bratkiv, a beloved Women's Club of Inverness member, who served every office and committee position during her tenure.

Executive Director Elizabeth Nabors of Journeys | The Road Home, and Executive Director Carol Reagan of Palatine Township Senior Citizens Council expressed their gratitude to Women's Club of Inverness for grants received by their organizations for transportation assistance and support outreach to Spanish and Russian speaking adults. Both speakers discussed how Women's Club of Inverness' philanthropic efforts helped disadvantaged members of the community.

Women's Club of Inverness member and president of Vicarious Productions Melanie Santostefano provided the members with helpful tips to manage Facebook accounts and utilize Amazon Smile to continually raise funds for Women's Club of Inverness every time members and nonmembers shop. Women's Club of Inverness raised over $66,000 for the 2016-17 year for community agencies and scholarships.

Karen Kallman and Sue Sadowski announced Women's Club of Inverness' fall event; Jingle and Mingle Girl's Night Out. Guests are encouraged to attend from 4:30-9 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 15, at Medinah Country Club. The event includes a transformation lounge, chef demonstrations, raffles, food stations, shopping with 30 vendors, dinner and more. Tickets may be purchased for $75. The next general meeting is Thursday, Oct. 12, at Inverness Golf Club. The meeting will start promptly at 9:30 a.m. Storyteller Carol Bradley will perform a captivating presentation about the life of Ava Gardner and an optional lunch will follow.
