It was taken by me about 4 p.m. on September 7, 2017. My wife and I had just arrived at a house that we had rented for a long weekend getaway in South Haven, Michigan. The house was located less than a block from the Lake Michigan shoreline, so after unpacking the auto I decided to walk down to the beach. Fortunately, I grabbed my Sony RX100 camera. When I got to the beach it was obvious that a storm was brewing over the lake. I took two photos while on the beach. I am only a casual amateur photographer but even I was amazed at how one of them turned out. Bob Hohlman of Naperville

The corrals by me on the east side of Elgin are mowed regularly while the horses are out. To my surprise last week when a mower started mowing the center corral a horse in each side corral raced to the fence to watch him. I'm not sure which fascinated the horses the most, the mower or the driver. Mary Lou Roder of Elgin

We visited Portland Oregon during the last week of July. Due to wildfires in Canada, it was overcast and hazy. The temperature was abnormally warm, averaging in the high nineties. To escape the heat we visited Mulnomah Falls, thirty miles east of Portland. The Falls are the tallest in the state at 620 feet high. Just as my husband made it up to the bridge, the sun peeked out. Although Henry was barely visible, the view was stunning! I took a photo from below to capture one of our favorite memories of the trip. Joanne Gurion of Dundee
