I-90 improvements deliver huge benefit

Last week, I was honored to attend the launch of the I-90 SmartRoad and the Pace Flex Lane on the Jane Addams Memorial Tollway on behalf of the Hoffman Estates Chamber of Commerce. This major advancement in transportation technology and innovation will greatly benefit everyone who lives, travels and works along the I-90 corridor by providing more travel options and safer roads.

A strong, thriving community doesn't just happen. It requires foresight, commitment and a vision for the future. Without question, this transformative collaboration by the Illinois Tollway and Pace supports a positive economic environment for our businesses and families.

SmartRoad technology along the Tollway provides information to drivers for safer and more efficient travel. The over-the-road signs every half mile provide real-time travel information like alerting drivers if there is a lane closure ahead. This forward-thinking approach positions the region as a leader in the technology-driven future of connected and autonomous vehicles.

Express buses on Flex Lanes give commuters reliable travel times. New, clean, state-of-the-art buses with Wi-Fi and comfortable seats are now helping commuters get to work on time. More park and ride stations are under way to provide even greater access to the community.
