Signal Hill NSDAR to host English tea fundraiser

The Signal Hill Chapter, National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, of Barrington will host its annual English High Tea and Drama Wednesday, Oct. 18, at The Garlands of Barrington, 1000 Garlands Lane, in Barrington.

Open to the public, this fundraising event features an English High Tea complete with finger sandwiches, scones, lemon curd, Devon cream, chocolates and sweets, followed by a dramatic performance by actress and scholar Leslie Goddard.

Goddard will portray the Schuyler Sisters, the real women in Alexander Hamilton's life: his wife, Elizabeth Hamilton; her sister, the charming, witty Angelica Schuyler Church; and high-spirited Peggy Schuyler van Rensselaer.

You don't need to have seen the musical "Hamilton" to enjoy this, but if you have, it will bring the history behind the show alive!

Tickets are $45 and must be purchased by Tuesday, Oct. 10. Call Carol Steelman at (847) 304-1283 to make your reservation. Tables of 10 will receive reserved seating. Tickets are limited, so make your reservations early. Several themed baskets will be available for viewing at 11a. m.

Proceeds from the tea will benefit Signal Hill Chapter programs dedicated to preserving history, promoting patriotism, conservation and historic awareness in our community, and securing America's future through better education for children.

Membership in NSDAR is established through approval of documentation of direct lineage from an American Revolutionary War Patriot.
