Boys golf: Bussell, Noonan help Stevenson win Wheeling Invite

Stevenson's boys golf team got 71s from Jackson Bussell and Mark Noonan, helping the Patriots claim top team honors in Saturday's Wheeling Invitational, contested at Countryside Golf Club in Mundelein.

Bussell, Noonan and Wheaton Warrenville South's Justin Seymour each shot 71 on the par-72 course.

Seymour won the tiebreaker to earn individual medalist honors.

Stevenson's winning team score was 295, 2 strokes ahead of Highland Park. Lake Forest (303) was third, followed by Wheaton Warrenville South (306), Barrington (308) and St. Viator (313).

Other teams in the 26-team field included Prospect (eighth, 323), Libertyville (ninth, 324), St. Charles East (10th, 324), Hersey (14th, 344), Conant (15th, 346), St. Charles North (17th, 354), Buffalo Grove (19th, 359) and Maine West (20th, 367).

WW South's Joe Donzelli just missed the top 10 after shooting 75.

Barrington's effort was led by Dominic Scaletta (fourth) and Sean Markham (fifth), both with 73s.

Nolan Doherty led St. Viator's effort with a 74, which placed him eighth. Teammate Timmy Crawford just missed the top 10 individally after coming in with 75.

The top two scorers for Prospect were Jack Knott (78) and Charlie Busch (79).

St. Charles East's top finisher was Connor King (77), and Libertyville was led by a 77 from Mitch Kenston.
