Alden Des Plaines opens new state-of-the-art ventilator unit

Alden Des Plaines Short-Term Rehabilitation Center recently opened a Ventilator Unit.

The 13-bed post-acute unit is one of the few such units offered in the Northwest suburbs. The unit offers the latest in mechanical ventilator technology and an on-site arterial blood gas laboratory, and sets the standard in ventilator care.

"Our goal is to provide an individualized plan of care for our patients," says Emily Rickman, administrator. "Our new unit helps to decrease and eliminate the need for mechanical breathing support while maximizing each person's functional and psychosocial capabilities. Our multilevel team approach is uniquely designed to prepare individuals for transitioning to the next level of care for continued overall improvement in their health and well-being."
