Longfellow Elementary School in District 21 in Buffalo Grove held their first annual McTeacher's Night at the Arlington Heights McDonald's

Longfellow Elementary School in District 21 of Buffalo Grove held their first annual McTeacher's Night at the Arlington Heights McDonald's on Dundee Road on Wednesday, September 13th. A McTeacher's Night is organized to help raise money for local schools by having the teachers work at McDonald's and then giving a percentage of the night's sales to the local school.

On Wednesday, the restaurant was taken over by teachers excited to serve freshly prepared meals to students and their families to raise money for Longfellow Elementary School. The students and families were excited to see their teachers and principal behind the counter and throughout the restaurant.

Twenty-one teachers worked from the elementary school including Principal Rick Hereon. The McTeacher's jobs included greeting guests, cleaning the lobby, working the front counter, serving drinks, clearing tables, selling pies and even dressing up in a pie costume--all duties which were executed with great enthusiasm.

Longfellow third grade teacher Heather Popilek had a blast dancing around the restaurant in a pie costume. She was encouraging the families to make a donation and receive a delicious hot apple pie.

A special thank you goes to Longfellow PTO President Ellyn Burnett who organized the event as well as everyone that worked and attended the event. Longfellow teachers worked hard and with excitement, while the families enjoyed a spectacular evening.

The PTO raised $1,300.00 at the event thanks to all generous families who supported the school.

The Longfellow PTO plans to use the money raised to support the teachers in purchasing classroom equipment.
