Gurnee man arrested on molestation charges

A 36-year-old Gurnee man is behind bars in the Lake County jail on $1 million bail after his arrest Tuesday on allegations he molested a child under the age of 13 multiple times earlier this year.

Rodrick R. Linnear, of the 3400 block of Woodlawn Drive, faces four counts of predatory criminal sexual assault and one count of criminal sexual abuse.

His arrest culminated a monthlong joint investigation by Round Lake Park police and the Lake County Children's Advocacy Center that began when the child's parent contacted police, authorities said.

The investigation revealed that several sexual encounters occurred over a four-month period involving the child and Linnear, police said.

Linnear was arrested Tuesday at his workplace in Waukegan. He's scheduled to appear in court Thursday for a review of his bond and again Oct. 3.

The most serious charge against him carries a maximum punishment of six to 30 years in prison if he's convicted.
