Wheeling's Taste of the Town Celebrates 17 Years

Celebrating its 17th year, Wheeling's Taste of the Town returns to The Westin Chicago North Shore (601 N. Milwaukee Avenue, Wheeling) on Thursday evening, September 28th from 5 to 8 pm. More than 20 of the area's most popular restaurants, wineries and breweries, many of which are located on Wheeling's famed "Restaurant Row," will be serving tastings from their menus - a true culinary feast!

"We're looking forward to another successful Taste of the Town," said Scott Berman, owner of Superdawg Drive-In, and chairperson of this year's Taste of the Town. "Wheeling's Restaurant Row is truly a foodie's paradise with just about every kind of cuisine imaginable," he adds. "From casual family-friendly dining to award-winning upscale options, Wheeling's Restaurant Row has a long-standing reputation of great eats!"

Close to 800 people attended last year's Taste of the Town, enjoying samplings from dozens of restaurants. The organizers of this year's event (the Village of Wheeling and the Wheeling/Prospect Heights Chamber of Commerce & Industry), expect an even larger crowd this year. "Every year, Wheeling's Taste of the Town attracts more and more attendees," said Neena Pottoore, executive director of the Chamber. "Guests love having the opportunity to sample menu items from a variety of restaurants all under one roof," she adds.

Taste of the Town participants for 2017 include Allgauer's on the Riverfront, Benihana, Big Bowl Chinese & Thai, Buca di Beppo Italian Restaurant, Cooper's Hawk Winery & Restaurant, Liquor Barn, Market Square Restaurant & Catering, Mexcal Mexican Grill and Bar, RAM Restaurant & Brewery, Rammy's Sub Contractors, Salata, Saranello's Ristorante Italiano, Superdawg Drive-In, Tuscany Wheeling, Twin Peaks, Wa-Pa-Ghetti's Pizza, The Westin Chicago North Shore, and Wildfire.

"The show of support from our sponsors and partners, including Chicago's North Shore Convention & Visitors Bureau, has been tremendous," said Pottoore. "We're very grateful for all they are doing to help make this year's Taste of the Town the best one yet!" 2017 sponsors include Buffalo Grove Bank & Trust, Devon Bank, Keats Manufacturing, Medulla-Chiro One, Northbrook Bank & Trust Company, Northview Bank & Trust, Minuteman Press, Postnet, Sam's Club, STORM Interactive Entertainment, SYSCO, Tool King, Inc., The Westin Chicago North Shore, and Windows by Andersen.

Along with food and drink samples all night long, guests will enjoy DJ entertainment, raffle prizes, interactive games, a silent auction, and much more. All proceeds from the silent auction will benefit literacy programs at Indian Trails Public Library District. Everyone who attends Taste of the Town will receive a coupon book with special offers from all participating restaurants.
