Taylor Announces Re-Election Bid for Lake County Board

Lake County Board Member Craig Taylor announced today he will seek re-election to the Lake County Board representing District 19.

"District 19 voters have given me the opportunity to be their voice on the County Board for eight years, and I have worked tirelessly to deliver on the issues that matter to them," said Taylor. "I look forward to continuing to be a champion for reducing traffic gridlock, increasing economic development and maintaining the high quality of life we cherish."

During his eight years on the County Board, Taylor has built a reputation as a thoughtful, fiscally conservative leader who provides a high level of communication and constituent outreach to his district. District 19 includes Deer Park, Kildeer and Lake Zurich as well as portions of Barrington, Long Grove and unincorporated Lake County.

Taylor is a strong proponent of investing in infrastructure and was pivotal in delivering several important transportation projects for southwestern Lake County such as the Route 12 and Ela Road intersection improvement. He is also a consistent advocate for preserving open space and was essential in securing hundreds of thousands of dollars in funding for restoration and improvement projects at the Cuba Marsh and Heron Creek Forest Preserves.

A strong fiscal conservative, Taylor has leveraged his seat on the County Board's influential Finance Committee to advance measures that increase efficiency, eliminate unnecessary spending and promote sharing services between governments.

"Our record of fiscal management stands in stark contrast to the reckless spending of our state and federal governments. I am proud of our longstanding record of fiscally conservative leadership. We deliver a balanced budget every year and are one of only a few counties in Illinois that holds a AAA bond rating, the highest possible credit rating," said Taylor.

Taylor was sworn in as a County Board Member and Forest Preserve Board Commissioner in 2009. He is an active member of the County Board's Public Works and Transportation Committee, Financial and Administrative Committee and Ethics and Oversight Committee. Taylor is the Chairman of the Forest Preserve District's Operations Committee and a member of the Planning Committee. He is an integral part of the County's leadership team, having served on all but two of the County Board's committees and in other capacities including Chairman of the Lake County Stormwater Management Commission.

Taylor is a veteran of the United States Air Force whose passion for community volunteerism spans four decades of service to the Lake Zurich area. His service includes two terms on the Village Board and active roles in his Homeowners Association, the Lake Zurich Area Chamber of Commerce, Lake Zurich American Legion and Lake Zurich Rotary Club.

Craig and his wife, Pam, of 41 years, have lived in Lake Zurich since 1975. They are longtime and active members of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Hawthorn Woods. Craig and Pam have three grown children: Matt, Kim and Laura-all of whom graduated from Lake Zurich High School.
