Chamber of Commerce Week begins with open house Sept. 12

The Elgin Area Chamber is celebrating Chamber of Commerce Week in the Elgin area from Sept. 11-15 with a weeklong series of programming and features to engage the local business community.

The celebration kicks off with a Chamber Week Social Network and Open House from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 12, at the chamber office, 31 S. Grove Ave. in Elgin.

In addition to complimentary food and beverages, guests will learn more about upcoming events and programs, such as the Elgin Area Small Business Academy, Elgin Area Leadership Academy and the Community Thanksgiving Luncheon.

Members also will have the opportunity to film their free "EAC Elevator Pitch" video to help promote their business and discover valuable advertising opportunities now available through the chamber.

On Wednesday, Sept. 13, the chamber invites the public to attend its quarterly "CEO Unplugged" beginning at 11:30 a.m. at the Grand Victoria Casino, 250 S. Grove Ave. in Elgin.

This month's "CEO Unplugged" features special guest speaker Maestro Andrew Grams, music director of the Elgin Symphony Orchestra, which kicks off its new season the following weekend. "CEO Unplugged," presented by Grand Victoria Casino, allows guests the opportunity to learn about Maestro Grams' leadership style, as well as, enjoy a scrumptious lunch buffet in the Grand Victoria Casino's newly renovated Fox River Room. Tickets are $20 in advance for chamber members, $25 for nonmembers, and $35 at the door.

Then on Thursday, Sept. 14, spend your lunch hour getting some much needed social media group therapy at Social Media Meetup, the chamber's monthly social media and marketing information sessions, led by Jason Pawlowski, the chamber's director of marketing and special events. He will discuss how to leverage Facebook groups to promote your business, utilize LinkedIn groups to increase your business and industry knowledge and Twitter chats to engage with other professionals in your field.

"Social Media Meetup" occurs at the chamber office, 31 S. Grove Ave., from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Chamber Week then culminates on Friday, Sept. 15, with "Legislative Brew," its continuing series of coffee chats with local legislators. This month's special guest is Elgin City Councilman Corey Dixon. Enjoy a cup and conversation with Corey and ask him your most pertinent questions about the goings-on with city of Elgin. The event, sponsored by AT&T, will be from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the chamber office, 31 S. Grove Ave.

Chamber week's events are open to all local businesses in Elgin and South Elgin, not just current Elgin Area Chamber members.

Advanced registration, however, is required for all events at www.ElginChamber.com.
