Film encourages the empowerment of women

What would you do if you weren't afraid to fail?

St. Hubert Domestic Violence Outreach Ministry and WINGS - Giving Flight to Hopes and Dreams - will screen the film "The Empowerment Project" to explore this question further.

The film will be presented at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 17, at St. Hubert Parish, 729 Grand Canyon St., in Hoffman Estates, thanks to the sponsorship of Microsoft Corporation.

The Empowerment Project is not about domestic violence. Instead, this film follows a crew of female filmmakers across America to interview eight women who were emboldened to take risks and follow their passions.

They sought to encourage, empower and inspire the next generation of strong women who view the film to go after their career ambitions with passion and confidence.

This film is not about encouraging women to try to "have it all," but to be leaders of their lives and go after their dreams without fear and in a realistic way.

It's also a story of friendship and transformation, as the filmmakers turned the cameras on themselves to capture their journey to redefine empowerment.

This 50-minute documentary is appropriate for both male and female audiences ages 9 to 90.

This event is free, but seating is limited. RSVP to dv.outreach@sainthubert.org by Tuesday, Sept. 12.

There will be time for an optional informal discussion following the film. The event will conclude with a raffle for a one-year Microsoft Assure subscription valued at $149. The second item to be raffled will be a free Microsoft workshop for up to 10 people.

All raffle proceeds will go to WINGS, one of the largest domestic violence service and housing providers in the state of Illinois.
