Festival of the Arts adds to Lake Ellyn's beauty

Any stroll along the paths near Lake Ellyn will be filled with beauty, but this weekend the natural landscape found a complement in watercolor, oil and photographic landscapes and in dozens of other artistic media.

The Glen Ellyn Festival of the Arts brought about 80 artists from a dozen states to display their work in photography, pottery, wearable art, leather purses, oil and acrylic paintings, fiber arts and jewelry along the pathways bordering Lake Ellyn.

As visitors perused the booths on Saturday and Sunday, they were treated to demonstrations by working artists, as well as musical performances, and a children's area that invited kids to play games and explore their own artistic side through crafts.

The 48th annual art show is the Glen Ellyn Lions Club's biggest fundraiser. The club uses money raised through the show to provide vision and hearing screenings for residents and children who attend Glen Ellyn schools.

Additional proceeds support the Glen Ellyn Food Pantry, the Glen Ellyn Children's Resource Center and the Western DuPage Special Recreation Association.
