Skaters capture spotlight at Naperville's Last Fling

Naperville's annual Last Fling festival is in full swing this weekend as residents celebrate the end of summer with countless activities in and around the city's downtown.

The fest always offers something for every age group, but one special event - a Skaters Picnic - is usually set aside for teens and those even younger to show off their skills at the Centennial Skate Park.

Sponsored by KidsMatter, the event on Saturday included professional skateboarding demonstrations, safe skateboarding instruction, visits from Naperville police officers, free T-shirts and free lunch for skaters of all ages.

The rest of the Fling, sponsored by the Naperville Jaycees, continues with concerts, carnival rides and all the rest from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday and from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday.
