Hinsdale South stops Prospect

Prospect's football team came up short in its season opener Friday, dropping a 20-0 decision to Hinsdale South in a nonconference season opener in Darien.

Knights coach Mike Sebestyen said his team's defense played well and largely kept Hinsdale South's running game contained.

But the Hornets got a couple big gainers on slip screens, and Destin Talbert finished with a pair of touchdown receptions.

Prospect's offense was held to 70 total yards and was hampered by three botched snaps and a fumble on a quarterback-to-running back exchange.

Sebestyen said there were simply too many negative plays, but one bright spot was a 42-yard run by Jimmy Martin that got Prospect within scoring range.

The Knights trailed 13-0 at that point, with about nine minutes to play. But Hinsdale South's defense held and forced a turnover on downs; the Hornets added a late score to cement the outcome.
